Mt Airy’s graffiti problem is getting worse, the tags are getting larger, there are multiple tags on walls. If you see graffiti, report it! The quicker the graffiti is removed, the better.

Recent Mt Airy Graffiti

This is my 2nd Mt Airy Graffiti Report (1st here). I continue to find new graffiti throughout Mt Airy, some old graffiti that is new to me as well as brand new graffiti. East & West Mt Airy as well as the Germantown Ave business district are being hit. Here are 30 new Mt Airy graffiti photos.

Mt Airy graffiti tags vary in size from a few inches tall to over 5 feet tall; some use scrawl lettering while others use block letters. Some are on street signs, others are on billboards and SEPTA bridges. Here is a breakdown by area:
  • East Mt Airy   – 10 tags
  • West Mt Airy  - 11 tags
  • Mt Airy BID    -    2 tags
  • SEPTA              -    7  tags

Mt Airy Graffiti Report: 4/15/12

The Mt Airy graffiti problem seems to be growing  in spite of rapid response by the City’s CLIP and SEPTA’s anti-graffiti crews.

The latest survey, taken between 4/12/12 and 4/15/12 found graffiti tags  at these 6 Mt Airy locations that CLIP can handle :

  • Unit Block of E Gowen Ave – 1
  • 100 block of W Gowen Ave – 6
  •  Intersection of W Bryan Street and W Allens Lane – 8
  • Lincoln Drive & W Mt Pleasant Ave – 2
  • SEPTA R7 Overpass wall – E Vernon St by Stenton Station – 1
  • E Vernon Street and Sprague Street – 1

New Graffiti on SEPTA and PENNDOT Structures: 2/19/12

Less than a week after SEPTA crews removed Devon Village – E Mt Airy Ave Bridge graffiti (link), taggers have struck again.  This time they hit SEPTA’s Sprague Field shed on 3 sides and PENNDOT’s E Mt Airy Ave Bridge South wall and West Abutement.

Devon Village Wall Hole History

A 2 foot by 8 foot hole opened up in the Devon Village wall on January 25, 2012.
